About The Glen
The Glen is one of most attractive and the oldest picnic spot just 4 km away from The Ridge, which is center of the town. It is located at the high attitude of 1830 m from the sea level. This place is just beyond the Annadale. It is surrounded with the dense forest of the Pine and the deodar trees. The trees provide the shade for the people who visit the place. Chadwick Waterfall is also located in the forest of the The Glen. The picnickers can also take the cold bath in the chilly waters of the waterfall.
You can also take a pleasant walk in the reserved forests of the Glen. It covers the beautiful glades, forests of the pine and the oak trees, and the enchanting streams of the water. You can also enjoy the picturesque views of the rhododendrons, deodar and the oaks in the forest. How to reach The Glen
The Glen is the protected deep and dark forest near the centre of the city. It is also famous as the oldest known picnic spot of Shimla. If you want to visit The Glen, you can start from the Shimla Railway station. From there, you have to take the National Highway No. 22. After that, you have to take the Circular Road which will take to the Ridge at the center of the city. This road further leads you to the Glen Forest which is your destination.
The complete distance is the 8 km. The tourists and the visitors can reach the centre of the city by hiring the local cab and the taxi. The HPSTC and the private buses are also available very easily. Most of the tourists prefer to spend the day at the Ridge. They also prefer to walk for covering all the tourist spots.
If you want to walk to The Glen, there are two routes. One is from the Kennedy House and the other route is through the Cecil Hotel.
Best Time to visit The Glen
The best time to visit the The Glen is from March to May and after the monsoon, September to November. The monsoons are very heavy. Due to this fact, the water is running high. Also, there is danger of the landslide. The glens are open throughout the year.

The Glens are located near Shimla Town. It is just 45 minutes walk from the Mall Road. You can get accommodation in the Shimla at various hotels and the resorts. You can also stay with the local people, who have an extra room and provide the accommodation.
