You can enhance this mood with yummy golguppas of the Bhihari Lal Sharma’s stall at the Takka Bench. Started in 1948, this was the first stall of fruit Chat seller at the Ridge and city. This was the start of the famous chat street of Shimla above the Gandhi Statue at the Ridge.

Today, also it is very famous and the trekkers who climb Jakhoo Hill take a chat break at this place religiously. So, you can beat the heat of Shimla with the healthy fruits in the chutnis with a tang for only Rs. 30/-.

Butter Bun with the History

Your next stop is the tea stall which impressed the British Viceroy. The tea stall is nestled in the thick forests of the Chawda Maidan and known as the Verma Tea Stall. It is also famous as the Kewal ka Dhabba and is always crowded with the University students who live on the delicacy of the butter bun and the tea. Started in 1931, today the fifth generation of original owners is running the dhaba. The British Viceroy, Lord Mountbatten, who was Viceroy of India, was very impressed with the tea. He provided the permanent structure on the land and gave the same at the Bakshish to the owner of the shack. Today, this dhabha is busy from 7 in the morning to the 10 in the evening.

Butter Bun

In this time, the Dhabha serves hundreds of cups of tea and butter buns to the regular and new customers. Today, you can have tea at Rs.6/- and butter bun at Rs.14.

Enjoy Delicious Chana with the Bhaturas

For lunch, you should enjoy the best chana with luchis and bhaturas in Lakhar Bazaar at Sita Ram and Sons. The Sitaram and Sons have been making and serving chana bhaturas since last 5 to 6 generations at one place. They are known as the best dhaba in the town and served 3 to 4 generations of the people and the visitors since its inception. Most of the celebrities, who were born and have been reared in Shimla such as Preity Zinta and Anupam Kher have continued their patronage to this dhaba.
